Actually you should NEVER break or chew oxycontin time release pills. There is a serious risk of getting too much into the blood stream too quickly which can be fatal.

I was just hunting online to see if I can take an oxycontin after already taking tylenol pm for pain. Looks like the answer is not a good idea, but I couldn't let the thread go by without adding the warning about breaking their time released tablets.

I take Oxycontin quite often. I usually take it with 3-4 Tylenol PMs depending on how I feel. Ive come to realize it helps the naseau part of opiates. It sucks for like the first hour sometimes and then it gets great, and sometimes its amazing overall. The key with opiates is darkness. If the lights on you ruin the high and usually it makes you nauseated. Everyone is different of course and for all you know you could be allergic to oxycontin, which honestly that sucks for you. For me atleast I know at times it is very difficult to breathe and it feels like my throat is closing, but then it goes away and the euphoric feelings kick in. Just make sure you take it easy on opiates because you really dont feel anything and they make you not care.

The active ingredient in Tylenol PM (the ingredient that makes you sleepy) is dyphenhydromine. You would get the same effects from Benadryl, which had the same active ingredient. Dyphenhydromine is an antihistamine, which also makes you very sleepy. If you like that feeling, take Benadryl. Tylenol or acetominophen can cause severe liver damage if you take it often. When you take Tylenol PM and you're not in pain, there's no point. It's just added medicine you don't need that can cause damage to your liver. I tell people this all the time who take Tylenol PM to sleep. If you don't need the Tylenol, don't take it. Benadryl will knock you out just as well!

tylenol pm does not contain acetominophen, only diphenhydramine.

Get Benadryl with just Diphenhydramine, take 600mgs and enjoy the craziest trip of your life. Also, DON'T THINK ABOUT SPIDERS WHILE ON DPH! I could go about the chemical course of action, but I'm too lazy right now.

Also, lucidthoughts, Tylenol PM contains acetominophen and diphenhydramine, the aceto gets rid of the general pain and the DPH makes you drowsy.

You can also call Walmart pharmacy and tell them the medication and weight of your child...they will give you the correct dosage. This is just something you DONT guess on.
