Yeah, XP is going to be abandoned for sure. But for the time being, getting Vista can be avoided if you're not a gamer. If you are, well, that sucks because you have to get it for DirectX10.

my cousin has XP and hes a hardcore gamer, and a bit of a hacker... think he'll find a way to get DirectX 10 without Vista, or make his Vista more 'user-friendly'...

Tampering with Vista is risky business. See, before Vista, when you bought Windows, that copy of Windows was YOURS and you could monkey with it all you wanted, as long as you didn't publish anything that broke copyrights or patents and such. With Vista, you're buying a LICENSE, or simply the right to use the product, rather than the product itself. Because of this change, tampering with Vista breaks the ULA and could get you into trouble, especially with the constant communication Vista does with Microsoft.

Actually, I already have Windows 7!! Albeit it is an M1, but still...
I am really waiting til M2 or M3 comes out cause by then it will most likely be finally building it's own look!!
